People Are Helped By U.S. Government Grants

By Brian E. Howard

Have you ever had the desire to do something but find out that you can't do it because it is either too expensive or you are lacking the resources to finish it? If you have, you know that this can be very discouraging. When it comes to the lack of money, many people can become easily disheartened. Money, as we know, is not that easy to get.

If a person is living from paycheck to paycheck, it not easy for them to try to do other things that they may want to do because of the lack of finances. This can be true for those who want to finish school, or want to get extra training for a job. It is not easy to also try to keep loaning money.

You may be able to get money easily that way; however, you end up spending so many years of your life just paying it all back. Thankfully the U.S government has made a way in which they could help people out, and that is through the U.S government grants.

This is basically a federal grant that was incorporated in Title 31 Section 6304 of the U.S code. It is also governed by the Federal Grant and Cooperative Agreement Act of 1997. These grants are economic assistance which is given by the government out from the general federal revenue.

The people who get to have the grants should be people who join or support, or are a part of starting any kind of public deed that is acknowledged and authorized by the U.S. government. It is good to know, as well, that the government is not the only one who is giving out the grants. But private organizations that are non-profit also give grants to people who can be useful and who will use the money appropriately.

There are different kinds of grants that are being given today. There is something called the project grants that the government gives out in order to help fund projects that are based on research. Medical research are one of the things the government pays close attention too.

There is also the formula grant. These are grants that are given based on what is dictated by the law. There is also the earmark grant which is specifically appropriated by the U.S. congress. However, due to some issues, this is a controversial grant which is still going on today.

There are people who criticize several grants being given by the federal government or state because they feel that they are being unfair in some sense because of who they give it out too. There are many kinds of regulation, and some small business feel they are not given a fair opportunity.

Yet despite it all, and no matter what issues are going around; the good thing to see is that government as well as other private organizations still want to make a way to help others who are in need.

Governor Ritter Signs New Colorado DUI Law

By Josh McDowell

Governor Bill Ritter signed into law new legislation requiring tougher penalties in DUI (Driving Under the Influence) or DWAI (Driving While Ability Imparied) cases on May 25h, 2010. The text of HB10-1347 can be found here: http://www.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2010A/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/0AA564A18087D71A872576A80027B60C?Open&file=1347_eng.pdf

The new law will go into effect July 1, 2010. The most notable provisions in the new law require tougher penalties for repeat DUI or DWAI offenders. First, if a person is convicted of a second DUI or DWAI within five years of their first offense they will be required to serve a mandatory minimum of 10 days in jail and they will not be eligible for "earned time, good time, or trusty prisoner status..". A person will, however, receive credit for any time served prior to the conviction. Anyone convicted of a second offense within 5 years will still be eligible for a work/school release term of confinement, but will not be eligible for in home detention.

Second, persons convicted of a third or greater offense of either DUI/DWAI will now be required to serve a mandatory minimum of sixty (60) days in jail. They will also not be eligible for any good time, earned time, or trusty status during their term of confinement. Work/School release is still a possibility if the county in which they are sentenced offers the programs. Repeat offenders who are being sentenced for third or greater offense will also not be eligible for in home detention.

For all repeat offenders the minimum term of probation must be at least two years. If a person has complied with all terms of their probation including their alcohol treatment and community service they may petition the Court for early termination of their probation. This may be done by motion of the District Attorney, Probation Officer, Defense Counsel or the offender.

The new law also allows for the Court to require an interlock ignition device on an offender's vehicle. This new requirement of an interlock device has been common practice through the DMV for repeat offenders and for early reinstatement for first offenders.

The Unconventional Gas Industry

By Terry Grayson

Unconventional gas production, such as that from the Barnett Shale in Texas, could account for more than fifty percent of America's gas supply twenty years from now. These exciting new energies have emerged as a direct result from technological developments in the drilling industry.

New and prosperous energies are cropping up as scientists constantly search for ways to improve existing methods of drilling for oil. New resources like gases, minerals, and by-products of oil are discovered beneath the earth's surface frequently. To harness these resources and improve methods of drilling for oil is as financially sound as it is practical.

Long into the future oil will continue to provide the human race with energy. Oil and petroleum products have powered the world in the form of motor fuels for more than a century, and the demand is only growing. Analysts believe energy demand will only double in decades to come and at present the world is looking to oil and gas to meet these demands.

Oil is a key ingredient in many everyday products that people use, yet are keenly unaware of. Products like Vaseline include petroleum. Don't use Vaseline? Chances are you have a moisturizer in your bathroom that has it as a listed ingredient. Refineries turn crude oil into mixes that are used for everything from detergents to keep our clothes soft to drugs that fight off life threatening illnesses.

Three Major Types of Petroleum Based Products:

Naphtha is one example of a petroleum based product, it is a form of feedstock most people are not familiar with. Then there are non-fuel related products such as lubricating oils or solvents. Last but not least are the fuel, like diesel and gasoline.

Whether we like it or not, humans are dependent on oil. We need it daily, for transportation, in not only our vehicles on the ground but planes, ships, and more. In fact, the airline industry is one of the biggest consumers, and no viable alternative has been found. Coming in second is the industrial market, and rounding out the petroleum consumption are the commercial and home users.

To date, humans have extracted or produced more than 1 trillion barrels of oil. The demand is growing and set to double in the coming decades, which means that in less than a quarter of the time it has taken us to use that much, we will be doubling our oil exploration and extraction. The biggest resources for this future demand are most likely both unconventional resources as well as yet to be discovered conventional oil reserves. It is vital that our processes for exploration, extraction, and production are streamlined and perfected, and scientists and the industry as a whole is working against time to ensure that is so as our heavy demands increase. Resource management and exploration is more important now that at any other time in our history.

By Arina Rentuzi

There are many people around the country, as well as the world that have an avid interest in historical crime fiction. Here we will take a look into what this is a little bit further for those that are not aware of what this is.

Stories and novels that revolve around crime and the situations that surround the crime became in literature during the 19th century. The early stories that were seen did not have the private detective scenarios or the police involvement like the ones that we read today. Other aspects of the crime like motives and alibis were also things that were not seen in the books and stories during this time.

The Chinese and Arabic writings are the ones that were found during these very early days of crime fiction writing. A lot of these stories have since been translated into English so that other people that are interested in historical writings can also enjoy them.

The 1920`s and 30`s brought with it a great number of new authors. Many of these authors are some of the most popular names that have been seen in this field of writing. Agatha Christie is one such name that has been heard about all over the world.

During this period of time the whodunit theme was the trend when it came to crime fiction that was written. Many authors loved the way that they could manipulate the minds of their readers by getting them to believe something that was far from the truth until the very end of the story when they would let the cat out of the bag. These books captivate readers and keep them enthralled from start to finish.

There are many themes that a person can find when it comes to historical crime fiction. Having so many topics and varieties of options to choose from makes this something that a person can personalize by choosing the topics that peek their interest and curiosity. How To Save Tons Of Money With Your Own Home Generator

By Jack Boyle

The hottest topic today is green energy. Everybody talking about it. We're told about how important it is for our future, and that's kind of vague. What does this really mean for us anyways?

I'm sure you've heard of how electric cars and and hydrogen powered cars will change the way we get around in the future. This is important because unfortunately just using regular gas can cause a lot of environmental damage over time. And even more significantly, the fossil fuels from which we get our gasoline are finite! They are going to run out sometime in the future, and what will happen to us then?

Hopefully, everything will be all right because we'll have successfully adapted to a new green and renewable energy model. We have a long way to go though until we can be living in a sustainable model. The first step we have to do is transfer all of our existing vehicles to hydrogen or electric. The problem is that this requires a huge amount of infrastructure that just doesn't exist anywhere in the world yet, except for Japan. In Japan they have made some progress on making an electric grid for cars and also adding hydrogen fill stations to their gas stations.

You can help all by yourself though, even if you're not a powerful country with billions of dollars. And helping doesn't just benefit the environment, it can help save you money too! Probably the best way that I've seen is to install your own electricity generator. Sounds, crazy huh? Well it kind of is, but luckily it's very easy. If you install your own generator, you will be able to get your own power supply off of the grid and save tons of money over the long term. You can even make some money yourself by reselling it back to the power company. How cool is that?

The best way to get this setup up and running inside your own house, is with a product called Magniwork. You can just read the manual and then set it up for yourself, pretty darn amazing! - 38623

Which Tactics Evade Illinois Life Insurance Scams?

By Mike Novelli

Chronicling that last two years, a spike in consumer fraud foreshadows foretells a new era in white-collar crime. Throughout state and local city governments, consumer fraud cases pertaining to Illinois life insurance and Illinois medical insurance reports are inundating bureaus. Predominantly, unscrupulous insurance agents are vending fictitious health plans (such as ObamaCare) or are embezzling consumers' funds for Illinois life insurance.

In Gurnee, Illinois the Schmidts were scammed out of a life savings, totaling a half million dollars by a broker, who was married to a family member. The funds never reached the consumer's accounts. In other life insurance fraud cases, investigators learned that licensed agents were creating bogus life insurance policies and cashing in on the policies.

The bulleted items, below illustrate techniques to preclude being the next victim to an Illinois life insurance policy or health plan bamboozlement:

Despite the underlying convenience of obtaining assistance to compare Illinois, medical insurance plans quotes and to shop around for Illinois life insurance, an agent, representing several life insurance or medical insurance companies can expedite the process.

Regardless of the timesaving, threes techniques alleviate the chances of being duped by an insurance advisor. 1) Verify that the agent's is license is current and valid to sell Illinois life insurance or provide Illinois medical insurance quotes. 2) Confirm professional ethics with the Illinois Department of Insurance, Illinois Securities Department and the Attorney General's Office to ascertain whether the agent has any outstanding complaints. 3) Conduct-a background check via Google. Simply, input the agent's name followed by a comma, and the following other keywords: "fraud," complaints," "scam."

* If an agent recommends inflating income or net worth so that the beneficiary can obtain an Illinois life insurance policy to claim a better inheritance, report the incident to the Illinois Department of Insurance.

* Always make checks payable to the Illinois life insurance company and add a notation regarding the policy. Also, never sign the checks over to the representative or broker, who is providing the Illinois life insurance quotes.

* Regardless of economically sound the quote and enticing the benefits seem, always avoid any Illinois life insurance policy that "guarantees to double" the returns. Although open enrollment for Illinois medical insurance presents an short span to sign up, coercive, high-pressure sales tactics are ethically inappropriate and an indication to shop elsewhere. - 38623

Are You In Need Of An Elder Abuse Lawyer Of Virgina?

By Pam Green

Have you been contemplating contacting an elder abuse lawyer of Virgina? If so, then chances are, that you should at least have a conversational consultation with a skilled attorney who is experienced with cases involving abuse of the elderly. Most people agree that, when dealing with kids and older seniors, it is preferable to be too cautious, than to not be not cautious at all.

In the United States, and a number of other countries, the fastest growing segment of the population is the senior age group. This trend will increase for quite some many years. It is certainly within the realm of possibility that a large increase in elder abuse activity is forthcoming.

Now, more than ever, it is important for people to advocate for the elderly. We should not be reluctant to speak up & get involved when it comes to protecting people who are no longer able to protect themselves. The abuse of elderly individuals is an unacceptable crime that has both criminal and civil penalties that the perpetrators should be subjected to.

The truth is, in a lot of cases, criminal justice attempts are not successful, but civil justice actions prevail. And, sometimes, hitting someone back in the bank account, is more effective than even a successful criminal prosecution. It should also be noted that the burden of proof in a criminal court case is much stricter than in a civil case, as exemplified when O. J. Simpson was found not guilty of homicide, but guilty of wrongful death.

The truth is, putting one particular person is jail, as important as that may be, in and of itself, does not necessarily make a company become vigilant about preventing future problems. Institutional changes are often brought about by a threat to the profitability of corporate entities, including nursing home and care giving companies.

If you have elderly individuals in your life who are provided with care, look for potential signs of abuse. However, do not forget that abuse does not necessarily have to be physical. (For instance, mental abuse & theft are also possible.) Whether your elderly loved ones are provided with in-home care, or they live at assisted living or nursing home facilities, you should visit them a lot and actually view them interacting with their care givers. Take note if they seem nervous around any of them or if there are changes in mood when they deal with them.

Always ask them how they like their care gives and if they are happy with the treatment they are being given. Do not be bashful regarding looking for bruises or other marks and asking them about it. For your parents or others you have responsibility for, a nanny camera and microphone system is a great idea. There are many bad people who are in prison, only because a nanny cam was there to document their crimes. Additionally, you should always have the phone number of an elder abuse lawyer of Virgina. - 38623
