Doesn't it seem odd that despite the capability of providing at least $400,000 yearly per classroom, students do not seem to be doing any better when it comes to their schooling? What is the education system doing about it? Any way one looks at it, there is just something very wrong with the situation. Is it an education cartel, perhaps?
Statistical data shows a very disturbing scenario. Most of the high school kids who manage to enter college require remedial courses simply to cope with the educational gaps. If that is not worrisome enough, the situation is even aggravated by news of how the current system is even responsible for this lapse.
It has been said that the youth have always been the hope for the nation. But what future can there be for any nation if the authorities in power are not responsible enough in educating the next generation properly? Failing this responsibility is a recipe for disaster.
A case in point is The New Jersey Education Association. Its role is that of providing the students of New Jersey with a good standard of proper education. It is also a teachers' union that wields massive influence and political clout. Contrary to what it should be doing, the union has a nasty reputation for padding the bank accounts of its members instead. What is even more appalling is that there have been allegations of using state funds for this purpose. Does it begin to sound like a profit-hungry cartel than a body of mentors?
What follows is a short detail of one of the recently discovered exposes involving one of its members. One school district secretary was found to have been making more than what she should be receiving. The sum amounts to a staggering $180,000 annually. How did this happen? It is quite simple. Closeness to the education cartel is to blame.
Students with their bright and inquisitive minds cannot hope to thrive in conditions such as these. Even incompetent teachers cannot be sanctioned, much less replaced, because the union is coddling them. On the other hand, good teachers and idealistic educators are being harassed and challenged because they will not conform to this shoddy system. Some have had to face dismissal from their jobs for doing what was right.
This is truly a sad state the educational system is in. Mentors with principles and a heart for students are being targeted leaving a bleak future for the current system. It is corruption at its worst, indeed.
There remains a sliver of hope, however. Charter schools are taking up the slack that the current system is loath to address and the results are promising. These schools are showing that they can outperform the existing district schools much to the cartel's chagrin. However, it is still a long way to go for these charter schools. The current bureaucracy is not very amiable towards them and makes it quite difficult for the schools to progress further. Until the time comes for the public to finally put an end to the unbalanced trend in education, many more young minds will continue to suffer because of the lack of a good education.
