Well a leader first of all should have leadership qualities which include ability to set the vision and objectives, lead the team on the action plan, maintain the direction towards reaching the goal, identify roadblocks and remove the hurdles. He should be logical and equipped with reason and critical analytical ability to be able to take informed decisions keeping in view all the factors. Most importantly he should be able to persevere and make progress without loosing his confidence even in times of crises.

As leaders, they are expected to be perfect and correct at all time. There is no margin for errors in their decision-making. But then when you consider the amount of pressure they face and the number of things they handle all at one time, you will realize that they can go wrong some times in their decisions for they are human too.

Making mistakes is ok. But the leader is expected to quickly arrest the damage and make amends. He needs to constantly review the direction in which his group is headed and do a course correction if required and always move forward towards the set goal.

A leader is known for his quality of decision-making capability. He is expected to be a mentor and patient listener giving due importance and value to every member's opinion. End of it he should have clarity of thought and action to be considering what is good for his organization or group. His ability to think independently and carry others with him makes him a good leader.

A leader does not rule by consensus. He considers all points of view but has his own views and values that he believes in and accordingly takes decisions and stands by his decisions.

As the leader of the organization, he is the driver who decides in which direction the organization to move forward, what is good and what is bad for the group. He alone is responsible for taking decisions and is the repository of responsibility with accountability.

Biofuel Or Biofool - Can Ethanol Replace Oil?

This is certainly a worthy goal, but how realistic is this and at what cost will this fuel be produced? The basis of biofuel production is the conversion of plant sugars into ethanol, which can then be used as a fuel. There are two broad types of sugars available in plants, and the choice of which to use as the fuel source directly affects the profitability of the fuel generated from the plant.

The first type is simple sugars, with one or two sugar molecules joined together. These are the sugars that we digest from plants, which are we get our energy from. These sugars are mainly present in the fruits of plants. An example of this is the corn cob. This part of the corn plant is high in energy. Making ethanol from this part of the plant is profitable since the sugar molecules are easily converted into ethanol with the help of organisms such as yeast.

The second source of sugars in the plant is in the plant body itself, the tough fibrous material called cellulose. This is comprised of the same sugar molecules present in the fruit, but are bonded together in long strands. These strands are very difficult to break down into simple sugars and involve complex enzymes such as cellulase. These can be produced commercially but this is an expensive process. The result of converting cellulose into ethanol is both a lower yield and a higher cost per unit of fuel, but its great advantage is that any plant matter, even cardboard and paper, can be converted into fuel. There is no need to reduce the availability of food with cellulose conversion.

Presently almost all biofuel production is carried out using the simple sugars from corn cobs or similarly sugar rich plants such as sugar cane. Clearly, by using these crops to make fuel we are reducing the availability of food. With global demand for food rising and prices rising with it, it seems irresponsible to be using what little agricultural land we have to be making oil substitute fuels.

We cannot afford to supplement our fuel supply by sacrificing food production. By researching improved methods for producing cellulase or other substances that do the same job we could indeed have a genuinely clean source of energy that will be continuous and not damage the planet.

How Does Carbon Dioxide Cause Global Warming?

How does it do this?

Along with methane and water, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) absorbs energy at longer wavelengths than the other major atmospheric gases Nitrogen (N2) and Oxygen (O2).

Low frequency energy is commonly known as heat. When Carbon Dioxide is exposed to heat it absorbs the energy. It does this in two ways. First, the molecule moves faster and secondly the bonds inside the molecule vibrate more. Eventually the molecule will release this extra energy, again in the form of heat.

That energy is released in the same form, as heat. Also, it is given off equally in all directions. The important point here is that a fair portion of that released heat is emitted back towards the earth.

That is a problem because...?

The heat initially absorbed by the CO2 molecules comes largely from heat that is reflected from the surface and so is making its way out of the atmosphere into space. Carbon Dioxide molecules effectively take some of this energy and return it towards the surface, trapping it in the atmosphere. In essence, the CO2 acts as a heat blanket which is why it is given the term "greenhouse" gas, since greenhouses also trap heat. If we add enough CO2 to the atmosphere there can only be a significant warming effect, causing a rise in atmospheric and surface temperatures.

Even a slight rise in surface temperature can have significant effects. A warmer surface temperature means a warmer ocean surface. This leads to more evaporation which not only changes weather patterns but also increases the heating effect since water vapor behaves the same way as Carbon Dioxide.

This significant property of Carbon Dioxide is the main reason it's seen as a negative aspect of energy production and why we need to seek methods of energy production that do not involve releasing more CO2.

Our financial subprime woes started with Jimmy Carter who, though well meaning, dumb-headedly enacted legislation to encourage loans to people who were bad credit risks. Buying a home and paying property taxes was sold as the ultimate dream for financial happiness and prosperity. His administration began distancing itself from conservative lending and accounting standards.

With the Clintons in the White House, the problem skyrocketed. They passed legislation punishing the mortgage companies if they did not lend to poor credit risk borrowers. They put laws with penalties in them thus encouraging easy credit with eyes shut to risk. Sound lending practices were completely abandoned.

These foolish loans were bought up by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They repackaged these loans and sold them on the open market to other financial institutions. They also gave hundreds of millions of dollars into political coffers to ensure this circus continued.

Insurance companies insured these bogus loans. AIG and others evaluated this risk. Their leverage was originally set at 12 to one. They too threw million in lobby money at Congress, then the asked for a 30 to 1 leverage and further increased risk. This pumped up and dramatically increased their profits by large proportions while the real estate market was going up.

Federal Reserve economists put their stamp of approval on this financial gimmickry and allowed this charade to continue. Acorn (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) and other kindred socialist leaning organizations further aided in twisting banks to make even more fraudulent loans.

The House Finance Chief, SEC Chairman, Banking Committee Chairman and any Congressman or public official accepting lobby money were shills for this cancer. Lobby money is nothing more than a bribe. If you bribe a cop for not giving you a speeding ticket you go to prison. If a public official accepts a bribe, shouldn't they be put in jail as well?
