Reasons New American Politics Are Heading Down The Wrong Road

By Tameka Weeks

Some easily recognized problems with new American politics, can be found within the blogs and article sites that clog the Internet with this subject. Opinion biased as they may be, a consensus of the current public opinion can be gained in little time. The communication age has arrived and the nation is in desperate need to communicate it's best ideas through this mainstream connection.

Our forefathers would turn over in their graves if they could see how some people twist that ever important document they wrote called the bill of rights. This document was a well thought out piece of legislation that promised to protect the civil rights of all Americans for the foreseeable future.

The problem now faced regarding American politics is that our governing tactics are so outdated as well as insufficient to run a society the size of what it is today. New questions that never arose until recently, have made extra government necessary to deal with present and future political decisions.

Today's politicians are mostly in politics for reasons other then what there elected for. The campaign promises they made to get elected are forgotten as soon as they win. Needing votes can make a candidate promise the world. Actually fulfilling the promises made, is a rare occurrence and most just forget and never push the issue again.

There must be changes in the political makeup of this country. The current road we're on is a steep slope and the way to the top is definite change. It's quite obvious that we are in need of more patriots and less businessmen in our political system. Finding them however and then getting one elected are stepping stones that are hard to reach.

If a candidate is running for office to gain fame or notoriety, or for monetary gain, their motives are never pure. Getting someone in office who is there for love of country and honest concern for the well being of the lifestyle, this country has come to represent, should be immediately pursued.

Taking a sound plan and making something to profit from has taken it's toll. It's a very difficult task to look at new American politics without being cynical.
